Overview

The Advocate Aurora Health Care WI Hem/Onc program consists of 30 board certified hematologists/oncologists.

The Advocate Aurora Health Care WI Hem/Onc fellowship will be a standard 3-year program with the goal for all fellows that successfully complete the program to apply for the dual board certification of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

The WI Advocate Aurora Health program will routinely attend to about 10,000 new cancer cases per year. We service over 18 chemotherapy sites and have 2 tertiary centers for referral, one in Green Bay and the other in Grafton, Wisconsin. The flagship hospital is our quaternary center, Aurora St. Luke's, which is a 950-bed hospital that provides all advanced therapies as needed, including, advanced cellular therapies, bone marrow transplant, genetic counseling and precision medicine.

Educationally, we have daily system based and subspecialty-based tumor boards. Fellows will be expected to attend and present in these as part of their training.

Goals

The goal of Aurora St. Luke's Department of Hematology/Oncology is to maintain a strong Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program, and to assure that each fellow receives ample exposure and training in all facets of hematology and oncology.

It’s also our intention that our fellows are appropriately prepared to take and pass their core and certifying board examinations.

Curriculum

If accepted, the 3-year program will include rotations in inpatient and outpatient Hematology/Oncology, both in the referral centers as well as in community sites to allow the fellows to understand all aspects of hematology/oncology care. Rotations will include exposure to coagulation disorders, cellular therapy, bone marrow transplants, precision medicine and genetic malignant disorders.

Throughout the 3-year program there will be the opportunity to apply for research rotations and electives both internally and at other sites as desired.
